Abdominoplasty

I recently attended a dinner conference at “One Market” Restaurant in San Francisco hosted by a company called “Neodyne,” the makers of Embrace Advanced Scar Therapy.

Some of the top concerns I hear in consultations for plastic surgery procedures such as, Breast Lift, Breast Augmentation, Reductions, and Tummy Tucks are, “How will my scar look” and “How long will it take for my scar to heal?

In short, scar tissue is the body’s natural response to trauma or surgery in an effort to heal.  The over production of scar tissue can create an unsightly raised scar.  The worst part of the healing process is usually seen within the first 3 months, but can continue to improve throughout the first year.

Embrace Advanced Scar Therapy is a waterproof elastic dressing applied to the scar to reduce the tension and stress, thereby minimizing the production of scar tissue.  It is used to treat scars for Breast Surgeries, C-Sections, Abdominoplasties; any place that requires scar management, even keloids.  Clinical studies by Neodyne say “92% of the time patients and physicians rated scars treated with Embrace dressings as better or much better.”  This system feels comfortable under clothes and requires a new application once a week for up to eight weeks.  Patients are amazed that they can shower and exercise comfortably.

We are now using this system successfully to treat tummy tucks and breast surgery scars.

Although we cannot wave away scars with a magic wand, Embrace is one of the tools that will help make the best scar possible.
