Male

Every year, more men are choosing to have plastic surgery. The goal of cosmetic surgery for most men is look better, more fit, and, in many cases, younger.

The most common procedures for men include liposuction, eyelid surgery, facelift, nose reshaping, and male breast reduction surgery.

Some procedures are unique to men and their bodies:

Male Breast Reduction

Gynecomastia is a benign enlargement of the male breast resulting from overgrowth of the breast gland. Some drugs and certain medical problems have been associated with the overdevelopment of the male breast, but there is no known cause in the majority of cases. Breast reduction surgery can help men who are self-conscious about the appearance of their chest.

In male breast reduction, fat and glandular tissue are removed from the breasts either by liposuction or direct excision through an incision around or through the nipple and areola. In extreme cases, excess skin may also be removed in order to produce a flatter, firmer chest.

The procedures are done under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. Patients are generally back to work in two to three weeks.

Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures for men. During liposuction, the body is sculpted by removing unwanted fat from areas such as the abdomen, waist, chest, thighs, face, and neck through tiny, hidden incisions about ¼ inch long. The procedure is done under local or general anesthesia. We use a variety of techniques in liposuction including tumescent liposuction, suction assisted liposuction, and ultrasonic assisted liposuction.

Liposuction is most successful for people who have good skin tone and localized or generalized fatty deposits that have not responded to diet and exercise. We caution all patients that liposuction is not a treatment for weight reduction.

Male Facelift

The effects of gravity, sun exposure, intrinsic aging, and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces over time – the cheeks deflate, deep creases appear beside the nose and mouth, the jaw line slackens, and fat deposits appear on the neck. A facelift restores a more youthful appearance to the face by tightening the facial and neck muscles and redraping loose facial skin. After surgery, some patients appear 10-15 years younger.

A facelift is performed under attended local or general anesthesia. Incisions are made within or along the hairline above the ear, extending down around the earlobe, and ending in the hairline behind the ear. The muscles of the face and neck are tightened, the facial skin is redraped and lifted, and any excess skin is removed. A facelift significantly improves facial appearance and also has a dramatic effect on the neck, enhancing its contour and profile.

A facelift is frequently performed in conjunction with a brow lift, eyelid surgery, and fat grafting to the mid face to restore it youthful fullness.
