Face

Plastic surgery of the face can "turn back time" by reversing sun damage to the skin, reducing wrinkles, and tightening sagging skin that can make you look angry, sad, or tired. Listed below are some of the procedures we offer to help you look as young and energetic as you feel.

After Facelift Surgery

The effects of gravity, sun exposure, intrinsic aging, and the stresses of daily life take their toll on our faces over time – the cheeks deflate, deep creases appear beside the nose and mouth, the jaw line slackens, and fat deposits appear on the neck. A facelift restores a more youthful appearance to the face by tightening the facial and neck muscles and redraping loose facial skin. After surgery, some patients appear 10-15 years younger.

A facelift is performed under attended local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. Incisions are made within or along the hairline above the ear, extending down around the earlobe, and ending in the hairline behind the ear. The muscles of the face and neck are tightened, the facial skin is redraped and lifted, and any excess skin is removed. A facelift significantly improves facial appearance and also has a dramatic effect on the neck, enhancing its contour and profile.

A facelift is frequently performed in conjunction with a browlift, eyelid surgery, and fat grafting to the mid face to restore its youthfulness.

Time away from work for a facelift alone is about two to three weeks.

Necklift

A necklift as an isolated procedure is suitable for those with early to moderate neck laxity without jowls or other signs of facial aging.  One or two vertical bands may be seen over the central portion of the neck, and these may be associated with excess fat. A necklift is done under local or general anesthesia through a small incision under the chin and occasionally, incisions behind the ears.  The neck muscles are tightened, and extra fat and skin are removed. You may be back to work with an improved neckline in two weeks.

The nose is a central feature of our face that should be in balance with the rest of our features. Cosmetic nasal surgery, or rhinoplasty, can reshape the nose for people who are dissatisfied with the shape and size of their nose. Rhinoplasty may also help those patients with difficulty breathing. Rhinoplasty can reshape virtually any aspect of the nose, including the bridge, tip, and nostrils. We will help you assess each of these areas and recommend how they might be improved. Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure performed under either local or general anesthesia. The recovery after rhinoplasty usually takes one to two weeks. The results from rhinoplasty are seen immediately but continue to improve for the next 3-6 months.

Rhinoplasties are frequently done in conjunction with chin enhancement procedures to give the face a better balance.

Mid Facelift

The cheek lift, or midface lift, is a procedure that elevates the cheek upwards, which counteracts the pull of gravity and creates a natural, younger, and more rested appearance. Lifting the cheeks helps rejuvenate hollow midface, pulls up the corners of the mouth, softens smile lines, and restores fullness to the cheeks. The cheek lift differs from the facelift with the results being limited to the central face.  Unlike the facelift, the cheek lift leaves no visible scars. In general, a cheek lift is recommended for patients in their 30s to 50s, while a facelift is appropriate for patients with more advanced changes.

The procedure is done either under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia. Recovery is quick and one can return to work in one to two weeks.  Many patients that would benefit from a midface lift are also good candidates for browlifts.

Facial Implants

Chin, Cheek, and Lip Augmentation

Facial implants can improve and enhance the shape of the face. These implants can help provide more balance to your facial features by strengthening the jaw line or bringing the chin, cheekbones, or lips into balance with the rest of the face. Facial implants are usually done in conjunction with other procedures – such as a rhinoplasty, face lift, neck liposuction etc.  There are many different types of implants available. We will help you select the most appropriate implant to enhance your overall result.

Browlift

A forehead lift, or browlift, restores a more youthful, revitalized appearance to the area above the eyes. The procedure corrects drooping of the eyebrows and improves forehead lines and wrinkles to help you look less tired, sad, or angry. In a forehead lift, the muscles and tissues that cause the wrinkles or drooping are removed or repositioned in order to smooth the forehead, elevate the eyebrows, and diminish frown lines.

There are several techniques available for performing a forehead lift. Which technique is most appropriate depends on how far the brows have fallen, your hair growth, and your forehead shape. In a minimally invasive, or endoscopic, browlift, small incisions are made in the hairline just above the ears. The skin is lifted and repositioned, and the muscles are then tightened. These surgeries can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia.

The forehead lift is typically associated with a very quick recovery and a natural, rested appearance after surgery

After Eyelid Lift Surgery
This 58-year-old woman lost more than 100 lbs and embarked on a total makeover, including several body contouring procedures. Looking at her face, the heaviness of her upper lids concerned her because they made her look permanently tired. Just having her upper and lower eyelids lifted rejuvenated her entire face.

After Eyelid Lift Surgery
Preparing for her wedding, this 62-year old woman wanted her upper eyelids lifted to highlight her beautiful blue eyes. The resulting eyelift rejuvenates her entire face, while still maintaining a very natural appeal. She was especially happy with her result when she saw her wedding photos.

Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, can rejuvenate puffy, sagging, or tired-looking eyes by tightening and removing excess skin, fat, and muscle from the upper and lower eyelids. It may be performed for cosmetic reasons or to improve sight by lifting droopy eyelids out of the patient's field of vision. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis under attended local or general anesthesia. The incisions are made where the natural crease should be for the upper lids, and below the lash line or inner aspect of the lid for the lower lids. Excess fat and skin are removed, and the soft tissues may be tightened.

Recovery is quick with return to work in ten days to two weeks.

Otoplasty

Ear surgery, also called otoplasty, is usually done on prominent ears to set them back closer to the head or to decrease the size of large ears. Otoplasty is usually performed through an incision behind the ear. The ear cartilage is sculpted and reshaped.

The procedure can be performed under attended local or general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.  Most patients are back to school or work in two weeks.

Structural Fat Grafting

One of the earliest signs of facial aging is the loss of fat volume eventually resulting is a deflated look. Structural fat grafting restores volume to these regions using the patient's own fat harvested from a site where unwanted fat has accumulated such as the belly or thigh. The advantage of fat grafting over fillers such as hyaluronic acid is that the filling material comes from your own body so there is no concern of any foreign material.  Much of the transplanted fat survives resulting in long term rejuvenation.  The sites most commonly grafted are the lower lid/cheek region (midface),  the nasolabial folds, the lips and the marionette lines.  The procedure is done under local anesthesia with light sedation.

Noticeable facial swelling is present for one to two weeks dependent on the volume of grafted material. The results are most natural.
